The movie Interstellar blew me away like no other film. Emotionally moving and gripping, incredibly thought-provoking, and personally humbling for me. What struck me first was the lengths humanity would go to serve their personal agendas. Then I was hit by the possibilities that quantum physics provides. Besides spirituality, nothing fascinates me more than quantum physics, perhaps because it seems so closely related or tied into spirituality, for me at least. Towards the end of the movie, my mind raced to make sense of what was going on before my mind halted at the idea that God might have caused us to age faster by shifting something in our dimension or universe when He decided we would no longer live past 120 years or so.
And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. - Genesis 6:3
It took my mind to how a thousand years is like a day to God.
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. - 2 Peter 3:8
Perhaps when God's spirit ceased from striving with man, we were limited to live much shorter lives. Maybe it’s because the flesh holds us back so much or God's spirit directly plays a much bigger part than we think.
I became fascinated with the idea in the movie of supernatural phenomena as being tied to occurrences in quantum physics that span multiple dimensions. What if ghosts aren't as elemental and haunting as we think? What if our knowledge and experiences of the occult and extraterrestrial life are all tied back to something way beyond our three dimensions? Something we don't understand, so we label them as the occult and alien. What if God only guides us to lead ourselves into solutions because He needs us to save ourselves from ourselves? God is never forceful, and even when He wants us to do something so firmly, we still have the opportunity to mess His plans all up, as we often have. Only He holds the past, present, and future in His perception. I wonder what that looks like because I can't comprehend how it may feel. Although, I honestly do believe that He allows us glimpses into the inevitable future through various means. It's the only way I can make sense of clairvoyance or any other psychic phenomenon.
All of this makes me question so much about space, time, reality, dimensions, the concept of knowing the future, the idea of energy, the existence of the spirit - whether malicious or not, and why the all-encompassing force of love is so important and influential in any reality that God has created. How did things shift after Jesus resurrected? What would this place be like that He is preparing for us? Is there even such a thing as fate? On an emotional level, I believe that God seeks us out to become His friends. Beyond that, though, there's a plan He has for all of the humankind that serves the purpose of glorifying Him, and only Him, because He is King. That is why trusting God is so much more important to me now. He is the absolute only being without the potential of having any hidden agenda. No ounce of malice or shred of dishonesty. Just love, pure and holy love. When we practice the love He models, we embrace Him, and I think that makes Him proud of us. It brings us closer to Him and nurtures that bond because it's like we are acting as if to express, "I want to be like You." We love God back by loving others.
Pay attention to the idiosyncrasies of your life and experiences. Listen to the voice that brings your mind out of whatever you perceive to be normal. They are not accidents or glitches or coincidences. They mean something, even if it’s just a small reminder of how loved you are.
